Definition:

Aramid fiber, also known as aromatic polyamide, is a type of synthetic fiber that is both heat-resistant and strong. It is made up of long-chain synthetic polyamide with at least 85% of the amide linkages directly attached to two aromatic rings. Aramid fibers are considered high-performance fibers due to their inherent flame and heat resistance, with a melting point exceeding 500°C. In addition, these synthetic fibers exhibit exceptional mechanical properties, surpassing those of steel and glass fibers when compared on an equal weight basis. Aramid fiber is extensively utilized across various industries, including aerospace and military sectors, for applications such as ballistic-rated body armor fabric, ballistic composites, marine cordage, marine hull reinforcement, asbestos substitutes, and lightweight consumer products like phone cases and tennis rackets. The unique features of aramid fibers are as follows:

Aramid 1313 can be used for a long time at a high temperature of 220℃ without aging, and its electrical and mechanical properties can be maintained for 10 years. The heat shrinkage rate at about 250℃ is only 1%, and it will not shrink, embrittle, soften or melt even if exposed to a high temperature of 300℃ for a short time. It will not decompose until the temperature exceeds 370℃, and carbonize at about 400℃.
